Crinoline Ladies Doilies

I think it's about time I started showing off some of the Crinoline Ladies I have crocheted. I have about 3 or 4 more in the works and will add those pics when I have them. All the patterns for these lovely ladies were designed by the talented, wonderful Cylinda Mathews of Crochet Memories.

If you want to try any of her patterns, look to the left column of this blog for the link to Crochet Memories. You will not only get amazing, easy to follow patterns, and I do mean EASY, but you will also get service and friendliness second to none. Cylinda is so nice and helpful. She has become a very good virtual friend to me.

To see all the beauties in crinoline patterns, on the Crochet Memories menu on the left side of the page, click on "Patterns by Category", then "Crinoline Girl Doilies".

This is Sweet Pea and I plan to frame her someday.

Rose Garden given away in a Crochetville Doily Swap. I really miss her. Will just have to make another!

Another Rose Garden in Red, White & Blue for my precious friend, Vicki aka mythunderbird on Crochetville. Only instead of roses, she has stars.

That's two Rose Gardens I've given away. Gotta make one for myself for sure!

Ms Daffodil -- looking for a way to display her.

I'm finishing up the Spring Time, the Red and Purple only she's in Cream and Dusty Rose, Ms. Frost, the beautiful Spanish Senorita, gonna start the Masquerade Party Girl, have finished Christmas Angel but can't position her wings and halo just right. Someday, sigh.

Sweetie stole this one

Started this one for one of the grandkids, I think, and Grandpa stole it. Said it was "his colors". This is a 3SUB made with a really big hook...P I think. Next time think I'll use a smaller one. Actually, this makes a really thick, heavy blanket.

Christmas Present for 11yo Granddaughter

"Blankie" made with 2 strands of yarn (affectionately, this afghan is called a 2 SUB...SUB stands for strand ugly blanket). So, this is a 2 strand ugly blanket made with a size M or N hook...don't remember. But you can use whatever hook you like best. You can even make a 3 SUB. Got one coming up soon. Anyway, of course, granddaughter loves it cause Grandma made it for her.

Christmas Present for 12yo Grandson

For a huge Harry Potter fan! He loves his "blankie" cause Grandma made it for him.

WEB RINGS

What does it really mean to be part of a web ring? Am I supposed to do something?

I like having the pretty links on my blog. Besides, it shows you some of where my interests lie.

THIS BLOG IS A MESS!!!!

How on earth do I clean it up and make it more reader friendly? It just looks so jumbled up. Plus it's so far behind!!! There is just so much to type and I don't keep up with it very well. Oh, woe is me.

Everything I Ever Needed to Know I Learned at Crochetville!

Everything I ever needed to know I learned at Crochetville.org! Crochetville has given me so many firsts! I now have a huge stash! I get snail; even got some doo in the mail! But most of the time I get and that's okay. I now sit around camps and participate in all night sing-a-longs, which keep some of the campers awake and grumpy. I've learned to share my things (RAOKs (random acts of kindness) and Swaps and now an AUCTION!). I spend enormous amounts of time in front of the , chatting with my C'Ville buddies, buying more , taking of my FO which are few and far between! I go ing for crochet supplies.

I've learned a foreign language: WIP, WIM, FO, UFO, DH, DD, DS, DIL, SIL, MIL, FIL. I know what PhotoBucket is, I've learned about blogging and even have a blog of my own now! The list is endless! It just goes on and on and on and on! I just learned that at the auction a magic yarn ball with a theme is a ball of yarn made up of similar bits and scraps all tied together and then hand-wound into a ball. There's another kind of magic ball which is a ball or skein of yarn, hand-wound, with small treasures like stickers, a small interesting rock, a seashell, and other goodies wrapped into the ball. We can call this a "magic treasures ball". I like this one best! I wonder if you could put a diamond ring in it!

But there's one thing missing: WHEN IS NAP TIME?

Summer Round of Secret Pal Swaps - My 3rd Swap

Not going to keep count after this one...well maybe I will, just for the record. Unfortunately, I have figured out who my Unknown Secret Pal (UKSP) is. But the name I have (she's called my Known Secret Pal (KSP) because I know who she is, of course! Duh! Well, she says she doesn't know who I am. I am having so much fun with this! We're divided into 3 camps and we're all at pretend summer camps. I am in Camp Skookumchuck, yeah, that's right...Skookumchuck. After you say it a bunch of times, it gets easier. The other 2 camps are Camp Krusty Krab where Spongebob lives and Camp Whatchamacallit. Poor guys, they don't even have a name for their camp.

We've been pulling pranks on each other, sneaking off across the lake to see the boys, having all night sing-a-longs (some campers really complain about that???). We've had 99 bottles of coke on the wall and we took 'em all down. I'm tired right now and it's lights out at camp, so to be continued...

Doily Swap - My 2nd Swap

Our doily swap has been in progress since May 15. There are 2 groups: those making doilies 8" or smaller and a group making doilies larger than 8". I signed up for the larger doily group and my partner is chrissyf. We've had a lot of fun so far emailing and getting to know each other. I have one doily almost complete and am working on another. Only one is required but seems chrissyf is making 2 so I'm making 2 too! She says she has all this chocolate that she's not putting in the package for me. Funny Girl!
MY FIRST CROCHETVILLE.ORG SWAP--NOTIONS SWAP
donnalynn2 was my very first swap partner on Crochetville.org. She made my first swap experience a very positive one. She's one terrific lady! We emailed back and forth and got to know each other. We had all filled out a questionnaire giving information about what we liked and what we wanted. I had to keep asking her questions to clarify some things for myself and in one of her emails she had the nerve to say that if she only got one of her items, she'd be happy! She said, "Please don't go nuts and get all the stuff on my list. I'd honestly be happy with even one of my items." Can you imagine if I had only sent her one crochet hook? or the pair of traveling scissors she asked for? And she was the coordinator of the swap and told us all in the rules that if our partner asked for buttons, we were to send them buttons! Not just one button. The rules said to buy for your partner as you would have your partner buy for you. No, it didn't really say that...I just did. But that's what it meant! She's also from the area in which I live and will be coming here next month! We hope to get together and visit a local yarn shop, have some lunch, and drive around so she can do some reminiscing.

Notions and stuff from me to Donna:
Annie's Attic Crochet on the Double; Split-Lock Stitch Count Markers; Thergonomic Hand-Aids; Flexible Cro-Hook H & I; 14" Afghan Hooks Sizes H & I; Crocheted heart sachet w/potpourri; a little wind chime; Hook Size Place Holders; G, H, I Hooks, Clover Soft Touch G, H, I Hooks; kids scissors for traveling; French Vanilla Fragrance Sachet.
NOT SHOWN IN THE PICTURE PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN DISPOSED OF:
Ghiardelli Dark Chocolate Squares and Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut Chocolates...Hmm, wonder where they went to!

Goodies from Donna to Me, Yum Yum! I did take the picture before scarfing down the mini-cookies! (Sheep and baby lamb from my collection; they insisted on being in the picture!)

More from Donna to me: Ribbons and silk flowers for embellishing whatever I want to embellish! Hopefully, will be picturing something soon with some of these embellishments.

Notions from Donna to Me
There's tape measures, scissors, hooks, yarn needles
Smaller sheep is retractable tape measure (which I have been wanting for awhile)
Little blue boxes can hold anything! They did contain Donna's Migraine Headache Rx!
Cool, huh? I'm still trying to decide what I want to keep in them. May have to have her save more for me!
(Again, my mama sheep with her baby wanted to be with the new sheep)

The Whole Package!

Wednesday, May 9, 2007

I just applied to be a member of the Village Swappers Web Ring so I'm gonna need to be more active in my blogging, I suppose. Village Swappers is composed of Crochetville.org members who participate in swaps. I'm participating in my first swap right now, the Notions Swap, which ends May 20.

I have been having a wonderful time getting various notions together for my partner, Donna, and she says she's having a ball with it, too. What we do is fill out an information sheet and let our swap partner know the notions that we would like to have, plus any kind of treats. Man, that girl recently bought the MOTHERLODE of yarn, patterns, crochet and knitting stuff and who knows what else at a garage sale for $20! (Hee Hee! I think I'm gonna get some of that stuff...well I know I am...she already told me she threw in some spools of ribbon for me...ribbon was on my list.)

Tomorrow I plan to sign up for the summer round of Secret Pals. I can't wait and hope I get in...there's a limit to the number of participants...1st come, 1st serve, I think. I've got to set up an anonymous email account so I'll be able to email my partner!

So much to do and just not enough time! I don't know when I'll get any crocheting done!

Oh, I also signed up for the doily swap!
